Registration priority will be given to Ecosystem Modeling and Data Consortium members and the total number of seats is limited.

Days 1-3 will cover the Intro to DayCent® Short Course with a combination of lectures and
hands-on workshops.
Participant Project Workshopping
Days 4 and 5 will focus on guided DayCent® set up for your project.

Dr. Ames Fowler
Ecosystem Modeler, Soil Carbon Solutions Center
Ames is an ecosystem modeler with experience in processing-based modeling from the field to national scale with a diversity of hydrology, crop yield, and bio-geochemical soil system models. Ames is dedicated to enhancing access, development, technical support, and user training for CSU's state-of-the-art soil system models through the SCSC consortium. Leveraging these advanced tools, we can drive soil-based climate solutions grounded in leading-edge science. Ames’ affinity for the outdoors and agroecosystems fuels his passion for this work.

For the first SCSC DayCent training, we are prioritizing commercial and nonprofit/research consortium members for our limited number of seats. We are happy to take names for the waitlist and will offer additional trainings in the near future.

This will be a technical training, designed for the beginner/intermediate to ecosystem modeling and R. We will do our best to make the material accessible, however some experience in R is encouraged.

We are not offering remote participation at this time, but hope to in the future.

You will need to bring your own laptop with a Windows or Linux operating system. Daycent does not have a version available for Apple at the moment.

Absolutely! There are lots of accommodations near CSU's campus. Although lodging is not included in your tuition, we can offer a couple of discount codes for nearby hotels.

Are you a modeling professional, researcher, or scientist setting up Daycent to simulate an ecosystem at a new site? The optional fourth and fifth days of the Daycent Training is a time for anyone to do a deep-dive into their work with guidance from CSU experts in data science and modeling. We’ll tailor this day to participants’ special needs.

The Introduction to Daycent Training tuition gives you three days of intensive learning. Tuition includes coffee + snacks each day. Does not include lodging or transportation.
